Cello
The cello may travel in the cabin on its own seat. An Extra Seat (EXST) at the regular fare of the booked travel class is required. Booking is only possible through the Lufthansa Service Center.
Guitar
A guitar may travel in the cabin if it fits in the overhead bin (max. 55x40x20 cm) including its case. If it exceeds these dimensions, an Extra Seat can be booked through the Service Center.
Violin
The violin may travel in the cabin free of charge as regular carry-on luggage. It fits easily into the overhead bin.
Double Bass
The double bass is too large for the cabin and must be checked as special baggage. Maximum dimensions are 200x75x60 cm. A sturdy flight case is mandatory.
Saxophone
Alto and soprano saxophones in their cases generally fit as cabin carry-on. Tenor and baritone saxophones usually exceed carry-on limits and must be checked as special baggage.
Keyboard
Keyboards and stage pianos exceed carry-on dimensions and must be checked as special baggage. The total linear dimensions must not exceed 300 cm.
DJ Controller
Compact DJ controllers (e.g., Pioneer DDJ-400, Traktor Kontrol S2) fit as cabin carry-on if they meet the 55x40x20 cm limit. Larger controllers must be checked as special baggage.
Drums
Drum kit parts must be checked individually as oversized baggage. Each piece (bass drum, toms, snare, cymbals, hardware) is handled and charged separately. Cabin transport is not possible.
