Step by Step

How to book your Drums on Lufthansa

  1. Disassemble the drum kit into individual parts and pack each in its own case or padded bag.
  2. Measure and weigh each individual part including its case.
  3. Book your flight online, then call the Service Center.
  4. Register each drum part individually as oversized baggage with exact dimensions and weight.
  5. Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure and go to the oversized baggage counter.
  6. Check in each part individually and receive a separate baggage tag for each.
  7. Collect all parts after landing at the oversized baggage belt.

Practical Tips

Good to Know

Seriously consider whether renting a drum kit at the destination is cheaper — flight costs for a complete kit can quickly reach 500+ EUR per leg. If you do fly: take sticks, drum heads, and small parts as carry-on. Invest in hard cases for valuable cymbals.
